Olga H. Huncke papers, 1911-1974.

Scrapbooks compiled by Miss. Huncke, a kindergarten teacher at the Haines School in Chicago's Chinatown community. The scrapbooks contain photographs, newsclippings, invitations, greeting cards, letters, and other memorabilia. The collection also contains similar materials not mounted in scrapbooks, relating to Miss. Huncke's kindergarten students, their later lives, their families, and events in Chinatown. Topics include a children's rhythm band, the celebration of Madame Chiang Kai-Shek's visit to Chicago in 1943, the life and ballet career of Ruth Ann Koesun (b. 1928); Victor Ing, artist, Jeanne Moy Joe; and Philip and Kay Lee. Scrapbooks are v. 1, 1911-1943; v. 2, 1942-1954; v. 3, 1954-1958; v. 4, 1958-1962; v. 5, 1962-1966; v. 6, 1966-1969; v. 7, 1970-1974; v. 8, Koesun vol. 1934-1977; plus loose materials 1950s-1970s.
